She Doesn’t Settle

Oct 30, 2019

Lumina Gershield Cordova is a kundalini yoga teacher based in Cambridge, Massachusetts who I met when we both attended Amy Porterfield’s Entrepreneur Experience and became friends through our journey creating online courses. Since then, I’ve come to know Lumina as someone who doesn’t settle and owns what she wants, and yet she is the kind of person you can truly feel relaxed around and be yourself.

To Lumina, yoga is very much a family activity. Not only is her husband also a yoga instructor, but she also created the Be With Me family yoga online community, through which she aims to change the vibe in clients’ homes from “stress” to “sanctuary.”

In this interview, Lumina opens up about her tumultuous growing years, explains how she finds balance and solace through kundalini yoga, dives into a discussion around hormones and getting older, and reveals the work she’s done to create a program that impacts women and families.

The Finer Details of This Episode:

- Breaking down how Lumina’s yoga courses can comprehensively help out not only individuals but entire families.

- How Lumina’s experiences in the foster care system shaped her personal and professional philosophies.

- What does it mean to be a “highly sensitive person,” and what is it like for Lumina to process the world while having this condition?

- The reason turning 40 was such an important milestone for Lumina.

- Why Lumina advocates that pre-menopausal women make a point of tracking their cycles.

- Exploring the unexpected impact the menstrual cycle can have on productivity and creativity.

- Lumina recalls the moment when she realized yoga could be a powerful tool for healing and self-control.
