She Doesn’t Settle

Today’s topic, self-trust and how to build it, is one that I have been anxious to discuss with all of you for a while now, and which is particularly important these days, I feel. One thing that really bothers me lately is the fact that so many forces are at work to diminish our level of self-trust, generating a tendency to rely upon outside sources, programs, systems or products instead of our own instincts, our own gut feeling, when making decisions about our own lives. We really need to pause and examine how this may be showing up for each of us, and look at some ideas that can help us regain our trust in ourselves going forward.

I begin by looking at the impact that culture, society and marketing have upon our sense of self-trust and satisfaction, walking you through some ways to build that trust back, and inviting you to see which one resonates with you and to test it out. Along the way, I recommend revisiting a previous episode about boundaries if you think that would prove beneficial, explore some studies about the hippocampus and creating neuro growth within it, and the dangers inherent in an ‘all or nothing’ attitude. Woven throughout is the message that you are your own CEO and you have the power of choice regarding how you live your life. It’s time to take back control and start listening to our intuition, our gut feelings, and begin trusting ourselves again.
